AUSTRAILIA, At Sea -- The Australian Defence Force brought on a small group of U.S. Marines to take part in an amphibious raid training, Exercise Sea Series 18, in Australia from May 18 to June 26, 2018. The Marines, from Marine Rotational Force – Darwin 18, arrived in Sydney to start with a command portion of the event aboard the HMAS Canberra.

CAMP HANSEN, OKINAWA, Japan -- The 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit completed the first in a series of pre-deployment training events at Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, June 28, 2018.  The first step for the 31st MEU to prepare for an upcoming patrol of the Indo-Pacific region is Marine Expeditionary Unit Exercise.

ARLINGTON, Va -- Task Force Purple Harbor, a joint NCIS-led Task Force, stood up immediately following Marines United during March 2017, has identified six special courts-martial which have adjudicated cases related to the actual, attempted, or threatened nonconsensual distribution of intimate images. Of note, three of the cases summarized below occurred prior to the substantial measures undertaken by the Commandant of the Marine Corps since March 2017.

Earlier today, runners were determined to grab a guaranteed entry to the 43rd Marine Corps Marathon (MCM). MCM Rush Registration successfully registered runners ages fourteen to eighty-one from all fifty states, D.C. and thirty-four countries. Fifty-three percent of registered marathoners are female while forty-seven percent are male. The first female runner to register was Carol Acosta from Stafford, Virginia, and the first male runner was Jacob Chafik from Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Commandant of the Marine Corps placed BGen. Kurt Stein the Director of Marine and Family Programs on administrative leave from his position based on an anonymous complaint to an NCIS tipline in which it was alleged that he made inappropriate comments during a townhall discussion on April 6, 2018. BGen. Stein will remain on administrative leave pending the outcome of an inquiry into these allegations.

WASHINGTON , D.C. -- The Marines are making strides to become more lethal and agile based on the threats of the future battlefield. Last week at the annual Ground Awards Dinner, Commandant of the Marine Corps Gen. Robert B. Neller, offered his recent decisions to many of the Corps’ top officer and enlisted ground combat leaders.  “We are going to change,” offered Neller. “Not that we aren’t good; we are.  But we must continually strive to get better.”
